Why Is Theology A Theology - 953 Words

Believing in God constitutes theology. One does not need to spread God’s word or study Him to a certain extent, but only needs to believe in Him and lead a life of what they believe to be holy and godly. To me, I believe that theology is a combination of this belief and the collaboration of various religions to examine new ways to believe in God; whether one follows strict rules to emulate who they believe to be God or if they believe that all religions must come together in order to best interpret God’s will, in both scenarios they are forming their own theology. Christians hold God in the exceptionally high esteem, revolving their entire religion around Him. Showing God to be the highest power, that He is before all, is a true testament to the Christian faith. I am personally tied to this faith, and I believe that Christianity and its many branches and interpretations allow each individual a chance to find holiness and to find God. An example of this ability to find G od is in the case of Abraham in Genesis 22. Abraham is tasked by God to sacrifice his only son to Him, and Abraham follows God’s will with a blind passion. Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son to God is the ultimate testament to his faith. I believe that this passage in Genesis is written in order to summarize all of the roadblocks that one faces when practicing his or her own theology.
